Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic condition affecting how your body processes food into energy. In type 1 diabetes, the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells, requiring insulin injections. Type 2 diabetes, more common, results from insulin resistance. Both forms of diabetes result in increased blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels can lead to serious complications like heart disease, kidney damage, neuropathy, retinopathy, and many others.

The onset of diabetes can come from multiple different sources. It can be from years of poor eating, inflammation, hidden infections, or organ dysfunction. Any of these factors can increase blood sugar levels, and the traditional way of addressing heightened levels is through medications. Medications such as Metformin, Jardiance, or Glimepiride are commonly prescribed to lower blood sugar levels by

artificially restricting the liver and/or pancreas' function. Often, these medications lead to things like lowered energy levels, increased urination, and digestion related problems.

What makes our approach unique is that we go after the root cause of our patients' diabetes rather than only addressing the symptom (high blood sugar). In doing so, we have been extremely successful in lowering our patients' blood sugar levels, and in turn taking them off or reducing their medications. Our patients can expect multiple forms of lab testing, analysis, and supplementation under the direct guidance of our doctor.
